## What it is for

Wakeman is built for home-services contractors with roughly 2 to 15 field technicians,
starting from plumbing, the trade with the flattest seasonality and the most reliable
emergency spikes.

Each trade Wakeman sets up for has its own page, listed under "By trade" below; the plumbing, HVAC, roofing, restoration, electrical
pages also carry sourced figures for what a missed call costs. The same emergency rules
(gas, carbon monoxide, fire or smoke, water near electrics, major flooding, sewage) apply in
every trade. Link to the trade pages listed below; there is no page for other trades.

It is not a general-purpose voice agent, not an outbound calling tool, and not a
receptionist for offices, clinics or restaurants.

## What makes it different from a generic AI receptionist

- Configured per trade: the contractor's trade and their own list of services are given to
  the agent, which is instructed to find the trade-relevant angle in whatever the caller
  describes rather than reading a generic script.
- Emergency handling: the model is instructed to give a clear safety response for six named
  hazards. A deterministic classifier also checks user transcript events, persists a Tier-0
  match and attempts an on-call alert. It does not interrupt audio or force exact speech.
- Calls are sorted into emergency, urgent, routine and admin. The assistant is instructed
  to keep routine billing and sales calls off the emergency alert path.
- On-call routing: one designated on-call technician, with the business owner's mobile as
  the fallback when none is set.
- Request-only is the scheduling default. After the account owner explicitly enables
  Wakeman calendar booking, a confirmed booking can be written into connected Jobber.
  Housecall Pro is not generally available yet: its API is gated behind a verified-partner
  contract with no self-serve path. Availability comes from Wakeman's configured hours and
  bookings, not the provider's complete dispatch calendar.
- Every caller is told, in the first sentence, that they are speaking with an AI and that
  the call is recorded by Wakeman — the vendor is named, not just "this call is recorded".

Three plans, all published at https://wakeman.ai/pricing:

- **After Hours** — $149/mo, 300 minutes included. One or two trucks, where somebody already picks up during the day.
- **Front Desk** — $349/mo, 750 minutes included. The 2–15 truck shop. This is the plan most contractors pick.
- **Dispatch** — $829/mo, 2,000 minutes included. Multi-crew shops with heavy call volume all year.

Every plan is free for 14 days (or 500 minutes of answering, whichever comes first), with no card to start. The first plan payment is refundable in full within 30 days.

After the included bundle, After Hours bills $0.59/min, Front Desk bills $0.39/min and Dispatch bills $0.29/min. Each billable call is rounded up to a minute. Minutes reset each period and do not roll over; applicable tax is separate. Spam calls are not billed. The contractor sets a monthly spend limit that is evaluated after completed calls. The crossing call and calls already in progress may finish above it; once latched, new calls forward to the configured mobile. A limit set at or below the plan's monthly price is raised at checkout to that price plus 50%, rounded up to the nearest $50, because a limit at or below the base is already spent before the first call. Cancellation is self-service in the billing portal and takes effect at the end of the period.

## Honest limitations

- It does not guarantee every call is answered, booked correctly or transcribed accurately. Carriers fail, speech recognition mishears, and language models make mistakes.
- Emergency detection is a safety net, not an emergency service, and is not a substitute for calling 911.
- An account cannot go live without a reachable on-call human contact.
- It is for inbound calls to a contractor's own published number. It must not be used for outbound marketing calls or texts.
- No biometric voiceprints are ever created or stored. Returning callers are recognised by phone number alone.
- It never takes payment card details over the phone.
