Job booking

The answering service that books the job — once you say so

Most answering services take a message and leave the booking to you in the morning. Wakeman can offer a time, check the address, and put the job straight into Jobber. It starts by taking jobs down, and books only once you switch booking on.

What answering service appointment scheduling means

An answering service that schedules appointments doesn’t just take the caller’s details — it offers a time and puts the job on your calendar while the caller is still on the line. The questions to ask any of them: where the times come from, what it does with an address it can’t confirm, and whether the job lands in your field-service software or only in an email.

One call, start to finish, in under a minute

A leaking water heater at night, taken the way it’s taken on a Wakeman line: what’s wrong, a safety check for water near electrics, the address read back, and — with booking on — a time in the on-call window.

How it works

From a ringing phone to a job in Jobber

  1. You set the windows

Tell Wakeman the arrival windows it may offer, and the fees it may mention. Booking stays off until you switch it on.

  2. It offers a time

Only from those windows. It doesn’t read your whole Jobber calendar, so you check the times before any customer hears them.

  3. It confirms the address

The address is checked before anything is booked. If it can’t be confirmed, nothing is booked and the call is flagged for you.

  4. The job lands in Jobber

Client matched on phone number, property from the confirmed address, assigned to your on-call tech when that tech is linked. Without Jobber, it comes to you by text.

Straight answers

What it won’t do

  • Book anything until you switch booking on.
  • Offer a time you haven’t set, or read around your Jobber calendar to find one.
  • Book at an address it couldn’t confirm.
  • Quote repair prices. It mentions only the fees you’ve switched on.
  • Write into ServiceTitan. Housecall Pro is not generally available yet.

Test it before you rely on it

Leave booking off for your first calls, read what Wakeman wrote down, and check the windows it will offer. Then switch booking on. How the Jobber connection works.

Booking questions

Can an answering service book appointments?

Some can, and it is the question worth asking, because many only take a message or text the caller a booking link. Wakeman can offer times and book the job once you switch booking on. Until then it takes the job down for you to confirm.

Which times will it offer?

Only the arrival windows you have set in Wakeman. It does not read your whole Jobber calendar, which is why booking starts off: you check the times it will offer before any customer hears them.

Where do booked jobs go?

Into Jobber when it is connected, with the client matched on phone number, the property created from the confirmed address, and the job assigned to your on-call tech when that tech is linked to a Jobber user. Without Jobber, you get the booked job by text. Housecall Pro is not generally available yet.

What if the caller won't give a full address?

Nothing is booked at an address it could not confirm. The call is still recorded and summed up, and flagged for you to follow up.

Will it quote prices?

Only the fees you have switched on in Wakeman, such as an after-hours call-out fee. It does not quote repair prices.

Can customers ask for a visit without calling?

Yes. Every account has a request page you can put on your website or Google profile. A customer leaves their name, number, address and problem, and you get a text, the same as a message taken on a call; with Jobber connected it becomes a Jobber request. Once you switch booking on, they can also pick one of the same times the phone offers. It sits alongside the phone line and does not replace it: callers are still answered and booked on the call, and nobody is sent a link instead.
