Jobber’s AI Receptionist vs Wakeman: when the one in Jobber is enough
Jobber’s AI Receptionist lives inside Jobber and is included on the Plus plan. If you’re on Plus and your calls are simple, try it first — we’d rather say so here than lose you in week three. Wakeman is for the Jobber shop that wants to keep its own number, wants dangerous calls to ring the on-call tech with safety steps written in advance, and wants a published minute price. It writes booked jobs into Jobber too.
Side by side
| Wakeman | Jobber AI Receptionist | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | After Hours $149 (300 min) · Front Desk $349 (750 min) · Dispatch $829 (2,000 min). After Hours answers only while you are closed. | Included on Plus. Otherwise an add-on: $29 a month on Jobber’s pricing page, $99 on its features page |
| What’s included | $0.59 / $0.39 / $0.29 a minute by plan, published, with a monthly spending limit you set | One help article: 30 conversations, then $0.79 each. A newer one: 100 conversations a month. Spam and “no conversation” calls don’t count |
| Phone number | Keep your number; the calls your team misses are forwarded to Wakeman | Runs on a dedicated Jobber phone number, available in the US, Canada and the UK |
| Urgent calls | Gas, carbon monoxide, smoke or fire, water near electrics, major flooding, sewage: safety steps, then your on-call phone is alerted during the call. An ordinary leak is urgent and gets a text. A safety net, not 911 | Listens for keywords you set, like “emergency”, “no heat” or “burst pipe”, then texts you or transfers to one escalation contact |
| Booking | Off until you turn it on. Then it offers the times you set, and booked jobs go into Jobber with the customer and the checked address. It doesn’t read your Jobber calendar | Books through your Jobber Online Booking settings |
| Built for | Home-service trades only: plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, restoration and their neighbours | Jobber customers |
| How you start | Free for 14 days or 500 minutes, whichever comes first. No card; choose a plan once you have seen it work | Add-ons can’t be bought during Jobber’s trial |

Comparing more than two? Every option for contractors, on one page.
How much is Jobber's AI Receptionist?
It is included, with unlimited usage, on Jobber's Plus plan. On other plans it is a paid add-on, and Jobber's own pages disagree on the price: its pricing page lists $29 a month and its features page $99. One help article says the add-on includes 30 conversations, then $0.79 each; a newer one says 100 conversations a month. Add-ons are not available during Jobber's trial (all checked 24 September 2026).
Does Jobber's receptionist need its own phone number?
Jobber's help centre says it runs on a dedicated Jobber phone number, available in the US, Canada and the UK. Wakeman works from the number you already have: the calls your team misses are forwarded to it.
What does Jobber's receptionist do in an emergency?
You set keywords for it to listen for, such as “emergency”, “no heat” or “burst pipe”, and it texts you or transfers the call to one escalation contact. Wakeman has safety steps written in advance for six hazards and rings your on-call phone during the call; no heat is sent as an urgent text.
Can I use Wakeman with Jobber?
Yes. Wakeman writes confirmed jobs into Jobber once you switch booking on, with the client matched on phone number and the checked address. The times it offers are the ones you set in Wakeman, not your whole Jobber calendar.
Which should a Jobber shop choose?
If you are on Jobber Plus, it is already included — try it first on your own calls. Consider Wakeman when you want to keep your own number, want dangerous calls to ring your on-call tech with safety steps written in advance, or want a published minute price instead of conversations.
