Goodcall vs Wakeman: a receptionist for every small business, or one built for the trades
Wakeman is an AI receptionist built only for home-service trades. It answers in your business’s name, asks the questions a plumber or HVAC tech would and checks the address. For a gas smell or water near electrics it gives safety steps written in advance and tries your on-call phone during the call, and it books jobs into Jobber once you turn booking on. After Hours ($149 a month) answers only while you’re closed. Front Desk ($349) and Dispatch ($829) answer day and night. Goodcall is an AI phone agent for businesses of every kind, priced per agent and by how many different phone numbers call. Here are the two side by side, from each company’s own pages.

Common questions
Comparing more than two? Every option for contractors, on one page.
How much does Goodcall cost?
Goodcall lists three plans, each priced for one AI agent: Starter at $79 a month for 100 callers, Growth at $129 for 250 and Scale at $249 for 500, then $0.50 for each extra caller. Paid yearly they are $66, $108 and $208 a month. A caller is each different phone number that calls and talks to the agent in a month; calls and minutes are not counted. Enterprise pricing is custom (Goodcall's pricing page, checked 29 September 2026).
How do Goodcall's and Wakeman's prices compare?
They count different things. Goodcall counts callers: $79, $129 or $249 a month for each agent, with 100, 250 or 500 different callers, then $0.50 each. Wakeman counts minutes: After Hours is $149 a month for 300 minutes and answers only while you're closed. Front Desk is $349 for 750 minutes and Dispatch $829 for 2,000, and both answer day and night. Extra minutes are $0.59, $0.39 or $0.29 by plan. What Wakeman's price buys is a receptionist built only for the trades: safety steps written in advance for dangerous calls while it tries your on-call phone, the address checked, and booked jobs written into Jobber.
What does a busy week cost?
On Goodcall, repeat calls and long calls cost nothing extra; what can raise the bill is new callers, at $0.50 each once you pass your plan's 100, 250 or 500. On Wakeman, minutes past your plan are billed at a published price: $0.59, $0.39 or $0.29 a minute by plan. You set a monthly spending limit, and once it is reached, new calls are forwarded to your phone instead of the AI. Spam and robocalls are never billed, and you are never moved to a bigger plan.
Does Goodcall work with ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber?
Goodcall's pricing page says you connect it to your customer software through Zapier, and its HVAC page says Zapier connects it to ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber. Its articles on each of the three also describe a direct connection. Ask Goodcall what the connection does for your plan before you choose. Wakeman writes booked jobs into Jobber once you switch booking on. It doesn't write into ServiceTitan, and Housecall Pro is not generally available yet.
What does Goodcall do on an emergency call?
Not published: the Goodcall pages we checked don't say how its agent handles an emergency. By default it transfers calls to your business line, and you can send them to a named person or department instead. Wakeman gives safety steps written in advance for gas, carbon monoxide, fire or smoke, water near electrics, major flooding and sewage, and tries your on-call phone during the call. No heat, no cooling and an active leak are urgent and texted at once. It is a safety net, not 911.
Does Wakeman answer in other languages?
Not today. Wakeman answers in English only. Goodcall says its agents are built to understand and answer in 20+ languages.
