Forward missed calls in Grasshopper
No codes to dial. You add your answering service as the second number on your extension, so your own phone always rings first.

Before you start, have these
- A sign-in to Grasshopper that can change settings. Some settings are only open to the account’s admin.
- Your answering service’s number: the number calls go to. With Wakeman, it’s on your Forwarding page.
Turn it on
In Grasshopper, go to Call management → Extensions, and open the extension your business number rings.
Choose Add call forwarding. Put your own phone first and your answering number second.
Choose “Ring in specific order” and save.
The True Solo plan allows only one forwarding number, so this needs a plan with more.
Test it
Call your business number from a different phone
Not the answering number. That only tests the answering service.
Let it ring. Don’t press decline.
Declining can count as busy, which is a different setting.
Check who answered
Your answering service should pick up. If your voicemail answers, forwarding isn’t on yet.
Turn it off
Open the same extension, take the answering number out of its call forwarding, and save.
If it didn’t work
- Check you opened the extension your business number rings, not another one.
- Make sure “Ring in specific order” is chosen, so your own phone rings before the answering service.
- Still stuck? Our team can check it with you.
